Posted on 26. May, 2009 by Marko Krulc in SHORT FILM

A strange man builds a world using holographic tools for the woman he loves.

The nine minute film, released in 2007, was awarded Best Narrative Short Film at 2007 KC Filmmakers Jubilee, but was turned down by other film festivals.

This award winning short was created by filmmaker Bruce Branit, widely known as the co-creator of ‘405′. World Builder was shot in a single day followed by about 2 years of post production. Branit is the owner of Branit VFX based in Kansas City.

That was totally photoshopped. Noway someone can build a town out of thin air. If they can, they should totally have tons of friends on myspace.

I do this every day at work, 3D modeling feels just like this sometimes. It truly is a beautiful short film, and very well put together.

I like how the moment you think it’s over, you move your mouse to get out of fullscreen, only to find it’s only halfway done.

I’m sorry but this was horrible. It’s like one of those films for people who still can’t believe that computer graphics can do these things. The actor is so bad, it’s making me laugh as I’m writing this. The music is bad too, the whole thing is retarded. I can’t believe people like this. The guy really just annoys me, his facial expressions, his gay look at the flower, I can’t handle it. Ok I’m done. You can hate me now.

This was just beautiful. I felt this man’s pain, and his joy at giving her a moment in her illness. Thank you for creating this… it just moves me in such a powerful way.

Excellent. Possibly a look into what we may be capable of in the future.

Greg, you are either just a loser troll with nothing better to do with your time or your just disappointed that its not some brainless shoot’em up.

Ronald, your right, this can’t compare with all the brilliant masterpieces you’ve created. Oh, wait, we haven’t seen any. Well, maybe later when you have time to descend from your white tower, you can wow us all with your cinematographic genius and your masterful Shakespearean acting abilities.

Awesome short. Not only a touching story and telling it in a very visual way with no dialog, but also an awesome concept of what tools artists may have at their disposal someday. Designing a UI is tough enough for an actual existing platform, but to go so in depth as to flesh out how it may really work in the future, is really impressive. It really felt like i was looking at a story from the future.

    Well Done
